I have been getting the below messages in my event viewer. The svchost
database engine stops and then a little while later it starts again. I have
googled this but have not found a whole lot. Has anyone chased this before?

Event Type: Information
Event Source: ESENT
Event Category: General
Event ID: 101
Date: 8/3/2006
Time: 7:32:43 AM
User: N/A
Computer: RAWLS
Description:
svchost (1328) The database engine stopped.

Hi Harrison,

Thanks for posting here.

To my knowledge, the Service which produces the event log should be
Exstensible Storage Engine service, namely ESENT. Exchange Server 2000 will
use this storage engine to store mail box. For instance, I am pasting the
same log information on my SBS2003 test server as below:

==================================================
Event Type: Information
Event Source: ESENT
Event Category: General
Event ID: 101
Date: 08/04/2006
Time: 5:01:03 AM
User: N/A

Description:
svchost (1024) The database engine stopped.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
==================================================

Please note svchost is a critical service process, so the ESENT service
will communicate with it, the 1024 you see is the PID of the Svchost.exe
process. You can view it in Task Manager.

I hope the above information clears your concern.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Steven Zhu
